Congratulation to our new inductees!
Congratulations to the 14 new members inducted on April 15, 2014. We were honored to have Dr. Wendy Chase as our keynote speaker.
A Farewell to Our Founding Members!
The high school career of many of our members has recently come to a close with the graduation of the inaugural class on May 17. As we are sad to see so many bright and hardworking students leave ECHS-Charlotte and the National Honor Society, we begin to reflect on all the accomplishments made over the past few years. With the completion of our final service project on May 25 at CHEC, we remember all the past times we were there to lend a helping hand in any way that we could. Also, with the donation of $130 to CHEC from environmental pledge cord sales we realized the potential for a long-standing future relationship between CHEC and ECHS-Charlotte NHS. Many members are moving on to great things at universities both within and out of the state. We can only wish them the best of luck and a safe, prosperous future as they continue to make history. In this time of departure we leave the future of ECHS-Charlotte NHS in the hands of the newly inducted members and those members to come after them. We are confident that they will uphold the principles of the National Honor Society and continue to be active and upstanding members of the school and community. A special thanks to Mr. Schmidt, Mrs. Juneau, the faculty and staff of ECHS-Charlotte, the founding members and officers of ECHS-Charlotte NHS, CHEC, and the family and friends of those involved. Here's to a bright and happy future for all our members!
On November 9th, 2012, the ECHS-Charlotte NHS informally inducted four new members from the senior class. These members are Marissa Butcosk, Jocelyn Jennings, Anthony Malagisi and Tyler Theriault. Congratulations to our new members and we are very excited to have them join us! Their names are now included on our home page of the list of member's names. In the Spring, these new members will be formally inducted when other students are inducted along with those inducted to the Science NHS of ECHS-Charlotte, in esscence we will have one big induction ceremony.
Spring 2012
On Friday March 23rd, 2012, the first members of the ECHS-Charlotte National Honor Society were inducted. On this inaugural evening, our chapter adviser, Mr. Blake Schmidt, and Mrs. Juneau, the principal of ECHS-Charlotte, spoke about the qualities a member of NHS has and Dr. Land, the President of Edison State College Charlotte Campus spoke as well. Eleven juniors and two sophomores became the founding members on that landmark Friday in March. The list of members is on our home page.
The next step in setting up our official NHS Chapter was to elect the officers. After the final vote, our 2012-2013 board is: President: Jordan Russell, Vice President: Emily Cothern, Secretary: Helena Tracy, Treasurer: Danielle Darmetko and Public Relations Officer and Webmaster: Brittany Ring. Our second and third meetings were used to create our chapter bylaws which were then approved by Professor Schmidt. Our bylaws can now be found on this site: have a look!
Our next goal was to complete the service project for the 2011-2012 school year. As our service project, we chose to help the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center (CHEC). We focused on removing and controlling invasive species for CHEC. Pictures and more details are available on the Service Project page.
After the creation of our chapter bylaws, the completion of our ISP's and service project, and constant maintenance of our website, our chapter has already come a long way in such a short amount of time. This upcoming school year promises greater horizons and more service. As we look forward to the coming school year for 2012-2013, service projects, ISP's, publicity, and fundraising are among the greatest priorities for us to focus on.
